My desire to start playing the piano again led me to take lessons with Simon Siddol alongside a return to education to study for a BTEC in Jazz Studies for voice at Leeds College of Music.
I studied with Simon for 5 years whilst doing my BTEC and then whilst studying for an honours degree in Music at the University of Huddersfield. My repertoire included classical pieces such as Mozart Piano Sonata No. 16 in C Major 2nd Movement and J.S Bach – Invention No.1. As well as songs such as Memory from Cats.
I then began studying privately with Graham Phillips and have taken ABRSM classical music exams to Grade 7. As well as this I gained a Masters degree in Music for the Moving Image at Leeds Beckett University.
“Joanna provides a very positive and nurturing environment which has helped me develop a very good foundation & appreciation of music. She is very patient, knowledgeable, and kind. She is able to tailor the lesson to what I would like to focus. I would highly recommend her for piano learning for all ages and skill levels ”– V. Taylor
Drawing on all of this experience I started teaching music students during one-to-one beginner piano and music theory lessons.
I now help students of all ages to develop their piano playing ability.
