Here at Piano Lessons Bradford we are always keen to encourage our piano students to get involved with the local music scene.

So we have identified some of the local live music venues with different attributes suitable for new bands/artists to perform (including students of Piano Lessons Bradford itself), as well as for our students to watch established musicians from across the globe perform right here in Bradford.

In fact, you might be surprised at how much potential music is on your doorstep, from chain venues such as the O2 Academy in nearby Leeds to fantastic local clubs such as The HiFi Club. So in no order...

St. George’s Hall

St. George’s Hall is an iconic building in the centre of Bradford and has played host to a variety of fantastic musicians/bands over the years including no less than Iron Maiden, Metallica, David Bowie, Genesis, & Kiss. Yes, that is right Metallica have rocked out in this fantastically historical building named as the third oldest concert hall in Europe - might be one reason why it needed a refurbishment in early 2016! Set to open its doors again in 2017 the 1,500 lower tier capacity, with a 3,500 overall capacity will no doubt play host to many more fantastic gigs in years to come & it is well worth keeping your eye on who is performing here as the variety of performers can cater for all musical tastes.

Stylus

Stylus is an award-winning venue that boasts state-of-the-art acoustics and lighting to provide more than your money's worth of evening entertainment. The venue can house 1,000 people for live music performances and have seen the likes of Rizzle Kicks, Foxes, Duke Dumont perform in recent years. Stylus also features multiple dance floors so you can really get your groove on, as well as providing the perfect platform for artists looking to build an audience in nearby Leeds.

The HiFi Club

The HiFi Club is a fantastic local club ideal for all local bands looking to start gigging in nearby Leeds. Although the club also has comedy nights, the majority of their events are live music and the 350 capacity allows you to get close to your audience and create an amazing atmosphere. At the HiFi you can expect to hear a wide range of different musical genres, from soul, funk and Motown to hip-hop and disco, with the venue seeing the likes of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Ugly Ducking and Corinne Bailey Rae grace their stage. This is not to mention The HiFi Club being a three times winner of both the 'Best Nightclub' and 'Best Live Music Venue' at the annual Leeds Bar & Club Awards - a venue well worth checking out if you are interested in getting involved in the local music scene.

The Brudenell Social Club

The Brudenell Social Club is a fun and vibrant music venue is ideal for musicians and fans alike. With a capacity of 400 people, this venue is ideal for local bands and artists starting the musical careers. Indeed, the venue has an open approach to live music and welcomes all bands and musicians to light up their stage, enabling them to build up audiences across Bradford & Leeds. The Brudenell is a non-profit organization and is all about the local community so well worth checking out even if you are not in a band as you can find many like-minded musicians there. It is also known for holding secret gigs for bands like Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs so worth keeping your eye on what is happening at The Brudenell Social Club.

The O2 Academy Leeds

The O2 Academy Leeds is part of a huge number of venues in the UK that see both local, national and international musicians perform to captivated audiences. Their venues have been home to various musical acts of different types, genres and audiences and whatever your fan base size the O2 is likely to have music suited just for you. O2 Academy in Leeds has a capacity of 2,300 people so can draw in some of the UK biggest bands! Indeed, the likes of Biffy Clyro, The Killers, Kasabian and the Last Shadow Puppets have performed recent years, often supported by local acts - the O2 Academy is both the perfect place to watch your favourite acts as well as help you to launch your musical career!
